On the Issues

Efactory (It's All Downtown)

Job Growth + Economic Recovery

Springfield’s economy is strong, but we must continue supporting local businesses while attracting new companies. During my term, I helped oversee the allocation of $40 million in ARPA funds, which provided critical support to small businesses impacted by the pandemic. I’ve championed policies that encourage economic growth, create good jobs, and build a strong, sustainable local economy

Workforce Development

Access to skills-based training and career opportunities is essential for a thriving community. I’ve worked to bridge gaps between employers and training institutions, supporting workforce development initiatives that provide pathways to better jobs. I also promoted entrepreneurship by fostering partnerships between local universities and startup ecosystems, empowering local innovators.

Public Safety

Ensuring the safety and well-being of our community is a top priority. During my time on City Council, I’ve supported measures that strengthened our police and fire departments, and expanded the Health Department’s public health outreach. Notable safety measures include increased funding for first responders, upgrading emergency response equipment, and expanding mental health services. I will continue advocating for resources that keep Springfield safe, healthy, and resilient.

Closing Opportunity Gaps + Fostering Inclusion

Diversity and inclusion are central to Springfield’s future growth. As Chair of the Mayor's Commission on Human Rights and through my role as CoxHealth's Chief Diversity Officer, I’ve championed policies that support minority-owned businesses and initiatives that foster inclusivity. A more equitable Springfield is a more successful Springfield.

Restore SGF (Springfield Business Journal)

Placemaking + Smart Development

Finding the balance between development and neighborhood needs is key to Springfield’s future. I’ve advocated for responsible, balanced growth through initiatives like Restore SGF, which focuses on revitalizing historic neighborhoods and increasing access to homeownership. I will continue to promote policies that respect the character of our neighborhoods while supporting smart, inclusive development.

Quality of Life + Economic Prosperity

A high quality of life is essential for building a strong, thriving community. During my term, I’ve supported initiatives that prioritize public safety, affordable housing, access to parks, and walkable neighborhoods. Through the Forward SGF initiative, we’ve developed long-term strategies for smart growth, enhancing our neighborhoods while attracting new businesses. I’ve advocated for balanced development that respects community needs and supports Springfield’s economic prosperity. This includes creating family-sustaining jobs, improving infrastructure, and ensuring access to essential services for all residents.
